Core Philosophy Change

Old Approach vs. Context-Aware Scoring

Traditional scores rank everyone with a static formula. A Data Science student and a UI/UX designer were evaluated identically, which was highly inaccurate. PlaceHire redesigns this to support **two scores simultaneously**.

Score 1 — Profile Strength Score (out of 100)A baseline score measuring overall profile strength and completeness. Shown on your dashboard and visible to all recruiters.
Score 2 — Job Match Score (out of 100)Calculated fresh for every specific job. Compares your profile directly against specific job filters. Displayed only on job cards and applications.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my score go down?

Yes. If you remove skills, delete projects, or if your GitHub commits become inactive, your score will drop. The score reflects your current profile state — not your historical best.

Does the score affect which jobs I can apply to?

Recruiters can set a minimum AI Score filter. If your score is below a recruiter's minimum, you can still see the job listing but cannot submit your application until you meet the threshold.

Can recruiters see my score history?

No. Recruiters only see your current score and active breakdown metrics. Your score history timeline is private to your student account.

How is the Job Match Score different from the Profile Strength Score?

Profile Strength is generic — it measures how strong your profile is overall. Job Match is specific — it measures how right you are for one particular job. A student with a Profile Strength of 65 could have a Job Match of 92 for a role that perfectly fits their skills.
